Saving a new file should detect the files language

What I did:
- Created a new file
- Put Ruby code in it
- Hit CTRL+S
What I expected to happen:
The File Format select box select Ruby as the most likely language (run first 100 lines through a program that detects the language?). At the least, it should select "Unknown file type" and let the user put the extension into the filename field.
What actually happened:
It selected ADA Source.... why?!

The “why” is easy: it's the first in alphabetical order. This would be a nice feature, but not every language is easily recognizable in this way (plus, there are dialects).
