Autocompletion disappears if I type

Reported by Deleted User | January 2nd, 2011 @ 02:23 AM

What I did:

Typed one letter (“d“), then pressed Esc, then another letter (“e“)

What I expected to happen:

After the second letter was typed, I expected the autocomplete window to stay there, autocompleting on “de”

What actually happened:

The autocomplete window left me :(

+1 Typing while auto complete is open should further filter the auto complete list.

The only cases when auto complete should close are:

    • When the user hits ESC a second time (while it's open)
    • When the user hits Spacebar (thus a new word)
    • When the user selects something from the auto-complete list
    • When the user types a letter that matches no auto-complete words (blank list)

I would prefer if additional ESCs would just cycle thru the list. (And shift-ESC in reverse direction.) You don't really need a way to (manually) close the auto complete list, since it doesn't prevent you from just keep on typing. If the distraction is too big, one can still use backspace or a mouse click outside the list.

In addition to just filter the results with typing, it would be great to have autocomplete inside autocomplete with TAB, much like bash does.

    +1 on everything else.
