Tab navigation shortcut is inconvenient
Reported by Martin Frost | December 29th, 2010 @ 06:44 PM | in 0.0.4
What I did:
I opened up a couple of tabs, and looked around for some nice way to navigate between tabs.
What I expected to happen:
I expected to find some kind of keyboard shortcut like ⌘} (like in Terminal.app), ctrl⇥ (Like in Chrome), or even ⌘⌥⟶.
What actually happened: I found out that the
shortcut for selecting the next tab
is
⇧⌘]. This key combination is a bit tedious to use, at
least when using a keyboard layout where you need to press ⌥
and some other character in order to get a ]. One example is the
Swedish keyboard layout.
I know Chrome also uses ⇧⌘], but it would be awesome with some kind of more convenient keyboard shortcut as well. Safari uses ⌘Ä for this (and ⌘Ö for previous tab), so that may be an alternative.
Also, using ⌘ with numbers (⌘1 for first tab, ⌘2 for the second) like TextMate would also be nice.

Kod uses the de-facto shortcuts used as defaults by many other applications, including Safari, Chrome and Terminal.app. However, as I just pressed the shortcut on my keyboard it appears as it was registered as SHIFT+CMD+[ and SHIFT+CMD+] which might be something else on your keyboard (I have a US keyboard).
CTRL+TAB will be supported in the future as we have some kind of "catch all shortcuts and do something with it" system.

Chrome also supports cmd-alt-right and left; on an italian layout, switching tab currently requires a 4-finger chord.
